QuestionHow do you feel about people who call you a fine ass "white" boy, like that last anon? There's something about that that doesn't sit right with me. They could have just as easily said you're a fine ass man, period. To me it's no better than a white guy saying you're pretty for a black girl. There's just something about that that irks me. Answer

blunthought:

first off, I am white, so you don’t need to put white in quotations.

This goes back to the conversations surrounding whether or not non-white people can be racist towards white people, which I don’t believe to be possible. when I am described as white, it is a descriptor and a recognition of the power and privilege I have on an individual, institutional, and structural level.

This cannot and should not be compared to white men saying “you’re pretty for a Black woman.” That statement sheds light on a system that has deemed Black as being inferior, ugly, less than, and further perpetuates that oppression.

when someone says I am a fine white boy, that shit does not hurt my social standing at all and does not marginalize me. If anything, it increases my social standing..
